You’re right about that being a function of religion (check out The Elementary Forms of Religious Life by Emile Durkheim). But the point I’m making here is more basic. I’m saying there literally is no such thing - couldn’t be any such thing - as a “God’s eye view.”

Any intelligent being has to have an intelligible worldview, and a worldview can only be intelligible if it parses the world into logical categories that form the basis of its thought. But there are all kinds of ways to parse the world in this way, and so far as we can tell the only way such parsings arise is by trial and error elimination.
