Why are rural Americans entitled to protection from the political overreach of urbanites, but urbanites aren’t entitled to protection from the political overreach of rural folks?

It’s one way or the other. Maybe you’re inclined to see all government that you disagree with as tyrannical, but the choice is either rule by the majority or rule by the minority. At least the former actually requires convincing a majority that you’re right.
