Trump probably thinks of himself as dignified, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

We’re talking here about the potential disconnect between how one wants to see oneself, and how one is required to see oneself by virtue of choices that are very difficult for a reasonable actor to avoid making.

I don’t imagine, given his wealth and power, that Trump feels much conflict between the choices he makes and his feelings about those choices. Indeed his defiant behavior in court suggests he has no reservations at all about his own choices.
