The Republicans in my neighborhood get their lawns mowed and their houses cleaned as much by immigrants as the Democrats do.

But to your point about government no doing anything “for” the people, that doesn’t make sense. Even basic functions like defense and law enforcement are done “for” those of us who benefit from security. Everything governments do they do “for” someone. That point isn’t in dispute. What is in dispute is who that someone will be. In the case of the GOP, that someone will be billionaires like Elon Musk.

Democrats can be annoying at times, but like Senator Gracchus in Gladiator, while they may not always be of the people, they at least try to be for the people.
