The facts surrounding the creation of the world lie completely beyond anyone’s capability to assess. What is within our ability to assess is whether the world continues to be acted upon by an agent who is not bound by the same physical, biological, chemical or other constraints by which we are bound. As to that question, atheists merely say the evidence is lacking, and therefore withhold belief. Theists bear the burden of demonstrating this, but have so far failed to do so
