Technically Trump has never won the popular vote.

But to your larger point, it’s not that voters in democracies don’t make mistakes. Of course they do. But societies that truly respect “one person one vote” will be more likely to learn from their mistakes and course correct later. Systems that give a minority a stranglehold on power (like our Electoral College) are less equipped to let majorities implement lessons learned.
