Postmodernism does not reject truth or objectivity. It rejects the claims of traditional authorities to be arbiters of those values, which is why conservatives like Peterson hate it. Postmodernism rejects meta narratives like those propounded by traditional religions and by newer ideologies like Marxism, making the label “post-modernist neo-Marxist,” which Peterson loves to lob at his enemies, a contradiction in terms.

Ironically, though, as a clinical psychiatrist Peterson has, in private practice, helped people to “deconstruct” their neuroses and live better lives. That’s exactly what postmodernist and poststructuralist philosophers tried to do for society as a whole.

It’s clear from Peterson’s various lectures that he doesn’t really understand Marxist critiques of capitalism as a cultural phenomenon, or feminist critiques of patriarchy. His views on religion are similarly confused. I’ve written many articles here on medium explaining these points.
