It seems to me you are correct, but also, because you are correct, one of two things must be true.
First, it could be conservatives just don’t have an attractive alternative culture that could compete with what liberals are offering, and the infallible market is just delivering what people want.
Or…
Second, the market is rigged and there is much that humans value that can’t be delivered by markets alone.
Acknowledging either, though, would require rejecting at least one of the pillars of contemporary conservatism. Maybe that’s why conservatives are increasingly embracing statism (see Sohrab Amari’s new book, for example)
