If Squid Game was succeeding in conveying an anti-capitalist message, I don’t think Squid Game: The Challenge would exist. The fact that it does just goes to show most viewers came for the tense, gory spectacle, but had no use for the satire.

Perhaps that disappoints you, but take heart. It also implies most viewers aren’t soaking up any right-wing subtext either. At the end of the day, for 90% of viewers it’s just entertainment.
