If you look at border crossings, and correlate with economic growth, there's a strong positive correlation. People come here in larger numbers when the economy is growing because there's more jobs available. When the economy goes into recession, as it did in 2020 briefly, border crossings decline.
In terms of policy BIden actually kept a lot of Trump's policies. He got rid of the cruel family separation policy, but he kept the remain in Mexico policy for refugee applicants.
