I don’t know man. Raising taxes on the wealthy is popular. Universal background checks and bans on assault rifles are popular. Abortion access is popular.

But Democrats aren’t, and so none of these things happen. The negative polarization is only loosely tied to actual policy differences. Much of it is aesthetics, for lack of a better word. It’s the vibe that’s been associated with the party.
