I disagree that you need a God to have a concept of morality or good and evil. There’s a ton of literature on the evolution of moral instincts. Even other social animals have a concept of right and wrong, this too has been experimentally demonstrated.

Religion is unique to humans though, so how could something that is particular to humans (the idea of God) cause something by that is common to so many animals?
