I didn't say Democrats in power. I said a Democrat in the White House, appointing Supreme Court justices.
In this regard the parties are COMPLETELY different. All Republican nominees are vetted by the Federalist Society and vote in predictable patterns to undermine the principle of one person one vote, and equal access to the ballot. They also vote predictably to allow legalized corruption and strengthen the executive branch at the expense of the legislature.
Democratic nominees for the federal bench are generally vetted by the American Constitution Society and vote in exactly the OPPOSITE way from GOP nominees on these and a host of other issues, including:
1) abortion rights
2) gun control
3) separation of church and state, and
4) the power of police and prosecutors vs. citizens' right to privacy and a fair judicial process.
These are HUGE differences. It matters a great deal who appoints the judges who make decisions in cases like these.
