Democrats opposed a bill that included a fifteen week limit. That’s not the same as opposing a fifteen week limit.

Democrats couldn’t support the bill because it allowed states to continue to pass TRAP laws and allowed religiously affiliated hospitals to refuse patients care.

A lot of people say “look at Europe, they limit abortion to the first fifteen weeks or even earlier.” But they also subsidize abortion with tax revenues, and they don’t have pointless regulations that make it hard to find a provider within the allotted time.

So yeah, Democrats would probably be cool with having Europe’s abortion laws, including the fifteen week cutoff, if we also got the guarantee that women could easily access the procedure at little to no cost.
